2 challenges in 1

Today I am sharing a card which "qualifies" for 2 challenges: Skipping Stones Design Sketch #SSD59 and "Out of your comfort zone" over at A Passion from Papertrey.

Using sketches is very new for me, and my mind is not very creative when it is looking back and forth from the sketch to my blank cardstock. However I am still determined to learn using these sketches!! So using a sketch definitely brings me out of my comfort zone and further I have made a card using soft colors which I never do. However maybe I should do it more, I like how the colors turned out on the card.
So first. Here is the sketch from Skipping Stones:

And here is my card:

I stamped the background using leaves from PTI Turning a New Leaf and flower from PTI Boxes, Bags & Tags. I used PTI Tea dye duo on the edges to take off the sharpness of the white cardstock. On the Sweet Blush cardstock I used Hero Arts background stamp called Antique writings - and again used tea dye duo on the edges. For the focal images I used white cardstock, stamped Hero Arts Peacock in clear Versamark, embossed it with white embossing powder and to make the peacock colorful I sponged on a ton of different Distress colors and wiped off the embossed area. Quite fun - you should try it!

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI white, sweet blush, spring moss
Ink: Versacolor bamboo and ash rose, Versafine onyx black, Distress Ink old paper, Wild Honey, Spun Sugar, Dusty Concord, Barn door, tumbled glass
Stamps: Background uses leaves and flower from two different PTI sets: Turning a new leaf + Boxes, Bags & Tags, and PTI sentiment from set: Fillable Frame #4
Hero Arts Antique Writings and Hero Arts Peacock
Other: White embossing powder, Perls, and small flowers

Passion for Papertrey - Background stamps

Happy Hello!

What a lovely sunday! The sun was out and melted a little bit of snow - very spring-like if you don't look at the calender!

For a while I have been visiting A Passion for Papertrey's blog - and I have been meaning to play along with them. Haven't had time though - and today I realized that the deadline for the current challenge (using background stamps) was just up over. But friday I made 3 birthday cards which fitted more or less to their theme as they are using PTI's Dot Spot background stamp - so I am using these cards to play along.

And because I trimmed my white card stock wrong (which is typical for me) I also have small tags which can go with the card.

Supplies:
Cardstock: PTI raspberry fizz + sweet blush + white
Stamps: PTI Dot Spot, Sentiment from Hero Arts
Ink: Kaleidacolor Berry blaze, Versafine Onyx black

Skipping Stones Design's card sketch SSD #58

Hiya!

Today I share with you my very first sketch card challenge.
I am determined to work more on these card sketches to improve my skills ... but I must say ... very difficult for me to think outside the box when I constantly look at the sketch.

I decided to play along with Skipping Stones Design's card sketch "SSD #58"

This is the sketch:
And this is my card:

I distressed the papers for a more rough look. Not too sure what I think of the card myself - what do you think?

Pattern Paper: Avignon Paper: Annonce
Stamps: PTI Damask Design, Text Style
Ink: PTI Terracotta Tile + Smokey Shadow + Tea dye duo

Happy New Year - I am back

Happy New Year!!

It has been awhile since my last post - but I have been really busy with work, so I forgive myself for having neglected my blog, but for 2011 I have set a stamping goal which is to participate in minimum two challenges / blog hops per month - this way I will be "forced" to blog more frequently.

Today I am sharing a card I made yesterday while my dear boyfriend was laying in bed feeling ill. It's a birthday card - perhaps I should have made a "Hope you feel better soon" card?

With this card I wanted to combine different background stamps and I ended up using 3 types - combining different background stamps doesn't come easy to me - so I used this Dawn McVey's post as my inspiration. I started off my looking/reading her post - then I went to my craft room and created my own version.

I would love to hear what you think of the card!

Gift tags

I have created some gift tags which I am sharing with you today. It is a while ago I made the tags, so I don't remember the full supply list. Anyway you get the picture :) If you want to know something specific just let me know, I will dig out the information for you!

The musical paper is a present I got from my parents after their holiday trip to Vienna - it is just
wonderful! The other pattern paper is also from Vienna and it has a pretty gold finish to it.

The christmas sock is from Papertrey ink's stamp set Stocking Prints, I handcut the socks but I think they have a die for that now.

The star and sentiments are also from Papertrey ink stamp sets.

The flowers are made from Ikea napkins and sprayed with Glittermist from Tattered Angels. I used Distress ink on the tags to make them look vintage like - I mixed Spun Sugar and Old paper to achieve that look. Anyway - that is probably difficult to see on the photo.

I also used some Leaf Ribbon from Papertrey and some perls.

I like to make tags - it is a good way for playing with different techniques and learning what works and what doesn't.

Thanks for looking!
Have a nice day.

Glitter Christmas Cards

Hi! Thanks for looking at my cards :)

Today I am sharing two christmas cards. I got the idea for them yesterday while playing around with some gifttags. I thought my "tag-idea" would make a fun christmas background on a card for friends - so of course I had to try it out. Let me know what you think :) I just LOVE that glitter effect! Tomorrow I hope to be able to share my tags.

Have a nice day.

Jolly Holiday Greetings Challenge in the Moxie Fab World

Goodmoooorning!
It is a wonderful morning - sun is out (HURRRAAAAH), no wind (MORE HURRRAAAAH) and it is an acceptable temperature! So let me share quickly another christmas card I made yesterday before I rush out to clean my car! It is very much needed!!

I have made another christmas card and is using it to participate in the Jolly Holiday Greetings Challenge in the Moxie Fab World - why don't you play too? You got plenty of time - last date for playing along is Oct. 11!!

The card is made with clear embossing powder on kraft. It is a tall slim card - I am thinking it could be handy to have a couple of those for December when giving away Christmas flowers or I might use it as a big tag on presents. Let me know what you think! The black dot on the photo is a problem with the camera ... don't know how to clean it. Think it must go to a repair man to get fixed.

Supplies
Cardstock: PTI Kraft
Stamps: PTI Tree Trimming Trio
Ink: Versamark Watermark, PTI Scarlet Jewel
Other: Filigree clear embossing powder, PTI Scarlet Jewel buttons

Last but not least - a photo of my Pretty Maderia sitting in the window, waiting for me to finish up so we can go outside and clean my car :) Such a lovely dog :)
