Nicole Heady has made an illustrative video about this technic. It looks very very easy ... so although I had a busy afternoon I wanted to give it a shot. Ehhh 3 hours later I have to conclude: it is not very easy for a newbie .... :) and to be honest I am not quite sure I got the "emboss resist" right.
But the finished result is a card (and I had fun!!) and there is room for perfection - unfortunately I do not have more time today because I am packing bags for a tradefair week-end in Cologne.
I dapped my embossed stars with marigold ink and orange zest. So voila - that is my emboss resist until I learn more about it.

Cardstock: PTI dark chocolate, PTI summer sunrise and and no-name white cardstock from my local paper shop
Patterned paper: PTI "Bitty Dot Basics"
Ink: Versamark clear, marigold and orange zest
Emboss power: Filigreen white
PTI Stamps: Out on a limb, Mega mixed messages
